A Demand For Respect Equals Power

"Raw And Uncensored Political Views Explored"

It was once said that:"Power never concedes anything without demands. It never has and it never will." In beginning this week's blog post I thought it prudent to explore cycles of history's past and present in order to formulate this argument for a "Demand for Respect" in the African-American Community. Having written extensively on Black America's "no demand voting records" since the enactment of the so-called Voting Rights Act, I felt compelled in this work to point out some very disturbing, but real statistics that have in my estimation proven problamatic for this sector of people. One of the first problems that I see need rectifying is Black America's unwavering support of a one Party Political Group. This is not to say that I am espousing that they should radically change Party affiliation, but rather that they should explore each Parties' policy and support of their respective agendas. To vote for a Party just because Grandma or Mother has aligned themselves therewith over the years is quite frankly a destructive voting practice that will enevitably continue the rapid demise of the African-American Community.

Secondly, though there were a level of thrill and pride that ensued from the bowels of Black-America following the 2008 Presidential Election of America's first Black Presdient, Barrack Obama, being elected to the highest office in the land, such excitement has since abated. Reality has started to set in for most African-Americans in this Country who has been hit the worst during our Nation's job crisis with a staggering 15.9% unemployment rate hovering over their communities in contravention to their White counterparts who've also been affected, but with a much smaller unemployment rate of 8.8%. A logically thinking minded person would think that White-America would have felt the largest brunt of this crisis since statistically they have been documented "the majority race" of this society with a ratio of 237,854,954, or 80.2 % of the total population. As stated earler, the unemployment rate for whites is 8.8%, which is 20,931,235.9 people. On the other hand the approx. number of blacks in America is 37,909,341, or 12.8% of the total population. The unemployment rate for blacks is 15.9%, which is 5,989,675.87 people. As a matter of principle and fairness in this Country I submit that no ethnic group should have to suffer from such a high unemployment rate. But when we discuss logics here, I further submit that there is nothing logical nor justifiable as to why the Black Community is so disproportionately affected by this job crisis other than a Jobs Reform intervention that has not been instituted since the founding of these United States. For this is the total reason for such great disparity today; our Elected leaders derelictions to address and ratify a comprehensive Jobs Reform plan to close such an imbalanced employment gap.

Now allow me to make clear that I hold that our Government should bear the largest burden and responsibility in creating a decisive plan to eventually get the American people out of this quagmire. Why? Because at a time when our Nation was on a solid and otherwise stable financial ground, following the Bill Clinton's administration, the Republican Party (who long claimed to be fiscally responsible) generated one of the largest deficits that I could recall any other majority party had ever run up in the history of this Nation. This all at a time when we were exposed to a positive surplus. Also, by giving wasteful tax breaks to the rich, while the middle class would have benefited the most from such, is equally apart of this, then President George W. Bush's policy making practices. Moreover, at this juncture I do not believe there is a sound minded American in this country who would not agree that the ill conceived war with Iraq was premised upon a lie from the outset and was abusively fiananced with money that could have very easily saved us (America) from such a devastating recession and job crisis. Even so, to now hear the Republican Party (especially members who voted the Bush agendas)pontificate their ficticious political disgust with the Obama administration's spendings to get us out of the mess made by the Republicans in the first place, does nothing more than shine an apprehensive, non-trusting light even more now on them---thus, forcing more and more Americans not to believe a word uttered from their venomous political lips. To make matters worse, not only are the Republicans not trusted due to their irresponsibility practices with Bush---they've now become the "absolute party of NO." That's right, NO, NO, NO to anything introduced by President Obama and the Democratic Party. Not because the introduced legislations are not sound and/or comprehensively based for the betterment of the American People, but merely because of their dis-taste for President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the entire Democratic base. Shame on the Republicans; as usual in America, such behavior and utter disregard will be recalled during the November Election.

As matters would relate to the Obama Administration; I think it fair to point out that when President Obama took Office, in December, 2008, some 700,000 jobs were lossed prior to his inauguration. From there the rapid decline in jobs continued up until April, 2010 when some 100,000 plus jobs were created, signaling a shift from the grips of recession's downspiral. That said, President Obama should not be held accountable for the conception of this recession, but only for the months of March, 2009 and beyond. This is so because by the time he took office the recession was already in full bloom, and at no faster rate could he (nor any other President Elected at that time) implement his strategies and policies to address such a grave recession collapse. To judge any other way is to judge biasly and unfair to this Administration. However, at this point in the recession, I fundamentally believe it right to look to President Obama for any such digression or escalations in America's longlasting recession and economic crisis.

All things considered, America is not the least bit concerned as to how they were thrown into this economic pit, (though they have not forgotten how they got there) but rather, how and when our Government will turn things around for our continued prosperity. Likewise, as stipulated above, Black America's not concerned that they are the largest ethnic group affected by this job crisis, (although it will be recalled during election time) they are essentially concerned about getting back to work, so as to take care of their respective families just like any responsible American. The ball's in your hands now Mr. President---what are you going to do?

At the conclussion of this jobless and economic matter---it is my hope that Black-America vote their conscience of "agenda support" rather than their conscience of traditional political affiliation. We must sit back and examine each parties' support or non-support of our necessity based agendas. Having weighed the lesser of two-evils---then and only then should we vote yea or nay come the mid-term election. Notwithstanding, Black America's Vote should reflect nothing less than a "Demand For Respect." This is the ultimate recipe to "power" of persuasion. Not race, religion, tradition or the measly palliatives offered post election day.
